Claude Givens, 92, of Beaver Dam, Ky. passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on September 27, 1926 in Butler Co., Ky. to the late Jack and Lelia McCoy Givens. He was a member of Word Missionary Baptist Church. Claude was a WWII Army Veteran. Claude retired from Inland Steel Co. in East Chicago Indiana. He loved antiques, his church work and was ordained a Baptist deacon in 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Curtis, Clyde and Cloy Givens; sister Amy Martin.
Claude is survived by his wife of 69 years Mardell Barrow Givens of Beaver Dam; sons Philmer Givens (Nancy) of Buffalo, New York., Devon Givens (Karen) of North Royalton, Oh.; grandchildren Karen Mazurek of Amherst, N.Y., Jamie Givens North Bergen, N.Y., Jessica McGrogan (Matt) of Amelia Island, Fl., Joshua Givens (Heather) of Arlington, V.A.; step grandchildren Kristin Peterson Schriber of Phoenix, Az., Ashley Peterson of Phoenix, Az., Andrew Peterson (Mary) of Orchard Park, N.Y.; five great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; one sister Oma Crawford of Birmingham, Alabama.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 10am at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Moran officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery where Military Honors will be presented by the Ohio Co. Honor Guard. Visitation will begin Monday, March 11th 5-8pm and Tuesday 9am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donate to the Baptist Children's home in Louisville, Ky.
