Garry Kitchens

Garry C. Kitchens, 93, of Indianapolis, In. passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 at the Arlington Place Health Campus in Indianapolis, In. He was born on October 29, 1925 to the late Ustus and Gusta Kitchens.  Garry was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Morgantown, Ky. and a 55 year member of the Capital City Masonic Lodge #312.  He retired as a mechanic with International Harvester in Indianapolis and he and Carolyn returned back to the family farm to help with Carolyn's aging father and enjoy many years of fishing their own pond and growing his own vegetables.  Some of his most cherished memories are those endless days fishing Butler County's rivers, ponds and Rochester Dam and any other waterway with Brian and of course, Carolyn.  Garry is preceded in death by his parents; wife Carolyn D. Kitchens; daughter Cynthia and her husband Bernie Grismore; brothers Wendel Kitchens (Mae) and Carl Kitchens (Erdine); sister in law Ruth Kitchens; brother in law Rex Hawes; father in law Avel T. Drake.

He is survived by his son Michael G. Kitchens (Peggy) of Indianapolis, In.; grandson Brian M. Kitchens of Indianapolis, In.; brothers William Kitchens of Evansville, In., Royce Kitchens of Portland Tn. and Boyce "Red" Kitchens (Ila) of  Wanamaker, In.; sister Exie Hawes of Morgantown, Ky.; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, Jan. 3 at Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Derek Cain officiating.  Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 3 from 12pm until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
