Richard Cardwell Obituary

Richard Neil Cardwell, 63, of Raleigh, NC passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at WakeMed Decedent Care in North Carolina. He was born on Nov. 3, 1955 to the late Kenneth and Exie McKinney Cardwell.  Richard worked at Young’s Auto Parts and was of the Baptist faith.  He served in the United States Army.   He enjoyed being a mechanic, riding motorcycles and racing cars.  He was a simple man that loved his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Kenneth Eddie and Ernest Cardwell; sisters Wilma Burns and Anna Mae Annis.

 

Richard is survived by Angela “Susan” Eagle, his soulmate for 25 years,  of Raleigh, NC; stepdaughter Tonya Black (fiancé Danny West) of Louisburg, NC; grandbabies Andrew Lawrence Black II, Jacob Neil Black, and Montana JoAnn Black all of Louisburg, NC; sisters Tish Webb (Chuck) of Morgantown, Ky., Norma Jean Embry (Kenneth) of Caneyville, Ky., Wanda Elmore of Russellville, Ky., Phyllis Nelson (David) of Warner Robins, Ga. and Teresa Hines (Mark) of Bowling Green, Ky.; brother Stephen “Bo” Cardwell of Dunbar, Ky.; several nieces and nephews who he loved like his own, especially his little dogs Ashley and Buddy.

 

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 11 at 12pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Embry officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandy Creek Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the Ohio Co. Honor Guard. Visitation will begin on Friday, May 10 from 5-8pm and Saturday from 9am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
