Aubrey Wayne Russ

Aubrey Wayne Russ, age 51, of Morgantown, KY passed away on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green.  He was born in Bowling Green on Nov. 6, 1974.  Wayne was a member of  Brooklyn Independent Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and later became an ordained minister. He proudly served his community as the Butler County Jailer and was a member of the Kentucky Jailer’s association.  He served his community in many outreaches such as delivering meals, raising money for Toys for Tots and the Angel Tree in Rochester. Wayne's giving was endless.  He was preceded in death by his parents Virginia Kay Russ and Carlos Wayne Russ (Betty) brother Michael Embry sisters; Cheryl Green, Angela Kiper. Uncles; Randell, Richard & Ricky Sublett. Odell Brown & Edward Russ. Aunts; Elaine Casey & Michelle Phelps. Alma Keown, Opal Cannon, Donnie Gaskey.

Wayne is survived by his daughters Hannah Elmore (J.T.) & Kayanda Russ. The children’s mother Melana.  Granddaughter Aubrey Elmore.   Brothers: Bobby Russ (Renee)  & Boyd Russ (Latynia) Tony Russ (Kathy) Jonathan Embry (Lindsey) & James Embry (Jen), Michael Ryan. Richard Embry. Sister; Lisa Russ Armour (Danny), Betty Lo Daugherty (James). Uncles Teddy Sublett (Doris) & John Sublett. Aunts; Mary Cannon. Sherry Key.. Fiancé Lisa Miller. Special Brother Randy Sublett (Rachel).  

 A Celebration of Life will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 23 , 2025 at 4:00 pm with Bro. Cody Russ officiating.   Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday from 10:00am until time of the celebration. Services will conclude with a “Last Call” procession through town.

Contributions may be made to Toys for Tots in memory of Wayne.
