Bennett Johnson

Bennett Johnson, age 83, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024 at the Medical Center. He was born in Roundhill, KY on Feb. 12, 1941 and was a retired mechanic for Millers Bottled Gas.  Bennett was a member of Carve Rock Baptist Church and enjoyed mowing, working in his garden and helping his children work on different things.  He was preceded in death by his parents Welbie and Eliza Woosley Johnson; in-laws Ed and Dorothy Phelps; son-in-law Craig Stanton.

Bennett is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elaine Phelps Johnson; children Dewayne “Dinky” Johnson (Theresa), Ryan Johnson, Kimberly Johnson (Troy) and Amanda Stanton (Timmy); grandchildren Adriane Watt (Justin), Mattea Johnson (Chris), Zachary Johnson, Olivia Johnson, Sadie Kimmel, Brandon Kimmel, Kallie Kimmel, Brianna Grubbs (Dylan), Hannah Stanton (Dylan), Caleb Stanton (Megan); 4 great grandchildren Madi, Noah, Max and Sophia; brother Bobby Johnson (Delores); one aunt and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 12:00pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Hampton and Bro. Daniel Beaty officiating.  Burial will be held in the Carve Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 9 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and Saturday from 8:00am until 12:00pm at Smith Funeral Home.   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 280, Morgantown, KY  42261.
