Bobby Joe Chaney

Bobby Joe Chaney, age 85, of Morgantown, KY, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center.  He was born on Sept. 7, 1940 in Bowling Green, KY.  Bobby Joe was a former Sergeant of the Bowling Green Fire Department for 23 years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and racing stock cars.  He was known for raising Wagner Breed black and tan coonhounds.  He ran the Gunsmoke Kennel and the Rocky Ridge Kennel.  He was preceded in death by his wife Kay Francis Bryant Chaney; parents Seaburn Clark and Ruby Iker Chaney; infant son Tommy David Chaney and one sister Fay Litchford.

He is survived by his son Terry Joe Chaney (Pam); daughter Tammy Michelle Chaney; grandchildren Jennifer Ginn (Josh), Micah Desler, Clifton Lewis; several great grandchildren; sister Kay Drummond (Richard); special caregivers Betsy Sharpe and Taloni Sharpe-Kappesser (Dalton) along with their children Landyn Sharpe and  Layna and Leah Kappesser; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 2:00pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Cline officiating. .  Burial will follow in the Vaughn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Monday, May 18 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm.
