Dallas Pendley Obituary

Dallas Ray Pendley, 74, of Morgantown, KY, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.  He was born on June 18,1950 to the late Veron Paul and Rachel Susan Childers Pendley in the Lee Town Community near Morgantown, KY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harrison Pendley and two sisters, Pansy Kessinger and Mickey Kirby.

Dallas is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathy Greathouse Pendley of Morgantown, KY; one daughter, PJ Pendley Ping (Floyd) of Bowling Green, KY and one son, Paul Pendley of Morgantown, KY; two grandsons, Isaac Pendley (Victoria) of Rochester, NY and Hezekiah Pendley of Boston, MA; two granddaughters, Margie and Cheyenne Ping of Bowling Green, KY; two sisters, Jean Thompson of Bowling Green, KY and Bettie Phelps of Morgantown, KY and several nieces and nephews.

Dallas loved Jesus and his family with all his heart. He was a member of the Richland Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masons, the Rizpah Shrine Temple, and the Scottish Rites. He loved working with his hands. He was considered one of the best diesel semi-truck mechanics in the area. He never met anyone he would not help. He was the person you could call any hour of the night for help. He never went anywhere that he could not take his family, which is one of the many reasons he enjoyed drag racing so much. He once set a world record in IHRA with his SS Chevy II in SS/L. He had a great love for old cars and could tell you how they came out of the factory, especially Chevrolets. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, they made him proud every day. He was the man, the myth, and the legend to many who knew him and will be greatly missed by everyone, especially his wife and family.  Anyone who would like to drive an old car or semi-truck in the funeral possession is welcome. The family knows he would enjoy that.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024 at 2:00pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro.
