David “Allen” Dotson, 62 of the Mooretown Community, passed away peacefully, at his home on Friday, October 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Allen was born June 18, 1963 in San Diego, California to William David and Sharon Rose Dotson.  He was a 1982 graduate of Butler County High School where he met and later married Tammy Phelps on September 6th, 1985. They recently celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary.  Allen attended Christ Covenant Church in Morgantown, where he and Tammy were both baptized on July 23, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sharon “Penny” Wester, and his brother, James Daniel Dotson and his grandparents William and Charlene Moore Dotson and Dan Rogers and Mable Young.  He was also preceded in death by his dear friends and mentors, James Neeley, Bob Toomey and Phil Higginbothom.

Allen was the owner of Allen’s Contracting first and then Prime Construction, where he worked for several local restaurants.  Allen was a talented craftsman, he loved nature, growing beautiful gardens, beekeeping, going fishing in Green River, playing pool and enjoyed a good fire on a cool evening.  His greatest joy was taking his family on vacations to the Smokies, in Townsend, TN and Cape San Blas in Port St. Joe, Florida and antique shopping with Tammy.

Allen is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Tammy, his precious children Thaddeus and Morgan Dotson and Maggie Grace and Kaleb Hunt, all of Morgantown.  He loved being Poppy to his grandsons, Treyson Allen Dotson, Macon Alexander Dotson and was excited for Reeves David Hunt, due in April.  Nephews and nieces: Danny Wester, Beth Wester, Chadd Wester, Ben Dotson, Lucas Dotson, Kirstin Brooks and Rachel Waters and several great nephews and nieces. Allen is also survived by his mother-in-law Gale Phelps, brother-in-law Daren Phelps, his best friend, Joey Givens and special cousin Katrina Cole Maniscalco and her family.
