Gaynell (Smith) Burden

Gaynell Smith Burden, age 79, or Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville, Ky.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on March 16, 1944 to the late Guffy and Lillie Frizzell Smith. Gaynell was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She drove the book mobile at the public library but spent the majority of her life as a caregiver for her loved ones. Gaynell loved to garden, play bingo, thrifting and spending time with her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Clay Porter and Edwin Burden; sister Janice Smith Evans.

Gaynell is survived by her children Scott Porter (Tina), Lora Porter Murphy (Marty) and Leah Bratcher (Chris); grandchildren Audrey Pendley (Collin), Andrew Porter, Lydia Jenkins (Ethan), Maddy Murphy, Curtis Clay Murphy, Luke and Eli Bratcher; step grandchildren Peyton Bratcher (Molly) and Lydia Walker (Alden); great grandchildren Porter and Emory Pendley, Carolina Jenkins; step great grandchildren Aiden Bratcher and Emily Walker.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 2pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Woody Moore officiating.  Burial will be private.  Visitation will begin Saturday at 12pm until 2pm at Smith Funeral Home.
