Janice Laverne Shields Cook, age 76, of Morgantown, KY went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026 at her residence. Janice was born in Brownsville, KY on Apr. 14, 1949. She was a former school bus driver and grill cook at the Farmboy Restaurant. Janice enjoyed thrifting at antique shops. She was preceded in death by her parents Mancel and Virginia Cummings Shields; son Timothy Coy; sister Helen Embry; brothers Phillip Shields and Stephen Shields.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Cook; sons Timmy Coy (Dalena) and Scott Coy (Marie); daughters Becky Parrish (Greg) and Michelle Coy; step-son Glen Cook (Stasia); grandchildren Jacob Coy (Sara), Kelby Harvey (J.C.), Tori Miller, Brandon Grubbs, Chris, Kayla, Jessie and Elizabeth Coy, Emily Coy, Ethan Coy, Dalton Collins (Abigail), Alora Cook; 9 great grandchildren; sisters Louise Voyles, Joy Smith; brother Ricky Shields and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. TJ Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Tom Cook Cemetery in Grayson County. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17 from 3:30pm until 8:00pm and Sunday, Jan. 18 from 9:00am until 12:00pm at Smith Funeral Home.
