Jerry Wayne Coots, 68, of Morgantown, Ky., went to be with the Lord at his residence on Sunday night. He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on Aug. 2, 1950 to the late Oakley and Ruby Flener Coots. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in Germany, a member of Aberdeen Baptist Church, enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He created beautiful hand carved canes. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Dorothy Coots Flener and Katheryn Coots Politano; brothers Jimmy and William Coots.
Jerry is survived by his wife Donna Coots of Morgantown; step children Revalee Santos (Joe) of Louisville, Tony Leuenberger of FL, Shannon Hale (Bernadette) of Bowling Green, Ky., Troy Hale of Louisville, Leonard Hale (Claudia) of FL and Joseph Hale (Amber) of LA; brothers and sisters Leon Coots (Joyce), Chris Davis (Gerald), Gwen Lee, Jean Leake, Cammie Coots (Ervil) all of Louisville, Kay Dwyer (Buddy) of WA, John Coots (Sharon) of Morgantown, Barbara Willoughby (Larry) of Greenville, Victor Coots (JoAnn) of Morgantown and Marsha Flewallen (Ken) of Bowling Green; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 19 at 1pm with Bro. Roger Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Aberdeen Cemetery where Military Honors will be performed by AmVets Post #117. Visitation will be from 10:30am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
