Marguerite Phelps Deweese, age 89, passed away on Jan. 5, 2025 at her home in Bowling Green, KY. She was born in Butler Co., KY on Dec. 10, 1935. Marguerite was a member of the Woodbury Methodist Church, former president of the Butler Co. Child Abuse Prevention Program (B.C.C.A.P.P.) and a recipient of the 1997 Jefferson Award. Marguerite started work at the Kane’s sewing facility during the mid-fifties and that work carried her into the seventies. She then started a career as a dispatcher for the Butler County EMS that spanned over 30 years, concluding with her retirement in 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband J.D. Deweese and her parents Elisy P. and Glaydis Embry Phelps.
Marguerite is survived by her daughter Kathy Falk of Russellville, KY; grandson Patrick DeRoy (Rachel) of Bowling Green, KY; great granddaughter Evelyn DeRoy; and her sister Patty Fox of Charleston, SC.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025 at 1:00pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Oberhausen officiating. Burial will follow in the Cook Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 13 from 2:00pm until 7:00pm and Tuesday, Jan. 14 from 10:00am until 1:00pm at Smith Funeral Home.
