Martina Phelps Baize, 80, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. She was born in Logansport, Ky. on Dec. 19, 1939 to the late Wesley Wayne and Anna Pearl Snodgrass Phelps. Martina was a member of Barnett's Lick Missionary Baptist Church where she served as secretary, treasurer and clerk for many years. Martina worked in the billing office as assistant business office manager at Morgantown Care and Rehab Center, where she retired after 37 years of service. She enjoyed quilting and reading. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband David Baize and sister Dian Lacefield.
Martina is survived by her son Ross Baize (Maria) of Bowling Green; sisters Annette Dockery, Janet Flener (Rodney) all of Louisville and Rebecca Hack (Gene) of Caneyville; brother Wayne Phelps (Gerrie) of Morgantown; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Due to the directives concerning large gatherings, we are abiding by rules set forth by the Governor of Kentucky concerning the health and well being of our staff and the families we serve. A private visitation and funeral will be held at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairveiw Cemetery in Ohio County. A drive thru visitation will begin on Saturday, May 16 starting at 1pm.
