Obituary

Mary Alice Motley Black, age 89, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, Ky.  She was born on Feb. 8, 1934 in Bowling Green, Ky. to the late Oval and Mildred Heal Motley.  She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and retired from the Butler Co. School System where she was a music teacher for many years.  Mary Alice was a former owner of the WLBQ radio station in Morgantown.  She loved cross-stitching, quilting, reading and helping people.    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charlie Black; son Mark Black; daughter Charlotte Black and cousin Glyn Tabor.

 

She is survived by her daughters Carol Ann Black of Cherryville, NC, Jan Embry and husband Michael of Morgantown, Ky.; grandson Garrett Embry and granddaughter Mary Beth Embry both of Morgantown, Ky. and lots of friends.

Graveside Service will be held at the Riverview Cemetery on Sunday, July 16 at 2pm with Bro. Raleigh Blancett and Bro. David Hocker officiating with burial to follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
