Myrl (Pendley) Burden-MacDonald

Myrl Pendley Burden MacDonald, age 83, of Morgantown, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Myrl was born on June 28, 1942 to the union of the late Alvin Pendley and Lorene Grubb Pendley. Myrl worked at both Kanes and Kellwood in Morgantown. She was a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary 5837 and became a Life Member in June of 1993. Myrl was Dept. Asst. Conductor for many years and held the District 5 President position of the Auxiliary 5837 Post. She organized the state of KY VFW Golf Tournament for 19 years and served on various committees that helped Veterans and hosted numerous benefits for cancer research. Myrl was an avid UK Wildcat Fan, loved piecing quilts, cooking, and spoiling her grandkids. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Myrl was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 25 years, Charles Burden and husband of 23 years, Jim MacDonald; brothers Norman T. Pendley, Bobby Lee Pendley and sister Helen Dean Pendley.  Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Terry Burden, Teddy Burden and Chris Burden (Tina); sister Betty Robbins (Garry); grandson Dalton Burden (Hailley); granddaughter Mackenzie Schwartz (Noah); great grandson Gatlin Schwartz; sisters-in-law Beverly Pendley and Wava Pendley; stepsons Steven and Michael MacDonald;. step-grandsons Cody and Matt Hudnall (Brittany); she was also blessed with several nieces, nephews step-grandchildren and lifelong friends, Jennifer Odle, Lynda Knight and Joyce Waterfield.  

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026 at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Robbins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion  Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 29 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and from 8:00am until time of funeral on Friday, Jan. 30 at Smith Funeral Home.
