Rhoda Mardell (Barrow) Givens

Rhoda Mardell Barrow Givens, age 95, of Hartford, KY passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025 at the Signature Health Care in Hartford, KY.  She was born in Butler Co., KY on Nov. 11, 1929.  Mardell was a member of Word Missionary Baptist Church and was a Registered Nurse and a Nursing Professor.  She enjoyed quilting and selling antique linens at flea markets and antique shows.  She was preceded in death by her husband Claude Givens; parents Taylor and Jessie Moore Barrow; sister Winifred Taylor.

She is survived by her sons Philmer Givens (Nancy) and Devon Givens (Karen); grandchildren Karen Austin (Matt), Jamie Givens (fiance’ Nick), Jessica McGrogan (Matt), Joshua Givens (Heather); step grandchildren Kristin Peterson, Andrew Peterson (Mary) and Ashley Peterson Ashley (John); seven great-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025 at 11:00am at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Raleigh Blancett  officiating.  Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025 from 9:30am until 11:00am at Smith Funeral Home.
