Ronald Lane Embry, 66, of Salt Lick, Ky., formerly of Morgantown, passed away on Saturday, January 25, at 12:46 a.m. in Mount Sterling, Ky. surrounded by his children and family after battling a long illness. Ronald, or as many called him “Rooster” was born in Gary, Indiana on April 8, 1953 to the late James and Mildred Johnson Embry. Ronald worked for many years at Dunaway Timber. He spent his time doing what he loved which included coyote hunting, fishing, horseback riding, talking on his C.B., spending time with family and friends and being a dedicated Louisville Cardinal fan. In addition to his late parents he is preceded in death by one grandson Austin Lane Dockery.
Ronald is survived by two daughters Debra Embry Dockery of Morgantown and Nina Ann Embry Hensley (Jonathan) of Mt. Sterling, Ky.; two sons Scottie Lane Embry of Morgantown and Lonnie Embry of Bowling Green; girlfriend Lora Lee Baker of Salt Lick, Ky.; 11 grandchildren Kerisha Jones, Holden Lane Hensley, Markie Dockery, Nicholas Dockery, Hailey Rose, Colt Rose, Arielle Maffin, Chelsey Embry, Kaden Embry, Shyann Embry, Sparky Embry; 11 great grandchildren; four sisters Rita Embry, Sherry Embry, Bonnie Mitchell and Barbara Henderson; a host of nieces, nephews and a multitude of close friends.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 29 at 7 p.m. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of the service at Smith Funeral Home.
