Sarah Ruth Phelps

Sarah Ruth Phelps, age 73, of Morgantown, KY passed away on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026 at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.  Sarah was born in Bull Creek, KY on Apr. 28, 1952.  She retired from Fruit of the Loom, where she worked for over 20 years.  She liked creating animals with pottery and gardening.   She was preceded in death by her parents Elvis and Pansy Brooks Phelps; sister Agathalene Renfrow and an infant brother.

She is survived by her son Charles Robert Cardwell; grandchildren Christopher Robert Cardwell, Heather Ruth Rediker (Michael); three great-grandchildren Lukas Cardwell, Eli Cardwell and Elliott Cardwell; siblings Willodean Renfrow, Debbie Johnson, Elvis Phelps Jr., Gary Phelps (Debbie), Samuel Phelps, Robin Hack (Jimmy) and Cleatus Phelps (Wanda); several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026 at 2:00pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Smith officiating.   Burial will follow in the Clark Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 10:00am until 2:00pm at Smith Funeral Home.
