Tommy Gene Cardwell

Tommy Gene Cardwell, 77, of Morgantown, Ky., passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at his residence in Morgantown.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on May 9, 1943 to the late Ancil  and Geneva Howard Cardwell.  He was a member of Big Muddy Missionary Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver and diesel mechanic for Ingram Trucking.  He was a Mason of the 32^nd degree and loved to sit on the porch swing in the sun and spend time with his grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Bonita Redell Hatcher Cardwell and sister Sonja Cardwell Flener. 

He is survived by his children Dennis Cardwell, Derek Cardwell (Cindy) and Chad Cardwell (Leslie) all of Morgantown; many grandchildren and one great grandchild; sister Louise Mayhugh of Morgantown; brothers W.D. Cardwell (Gail) and Randell Cardwell (Terry) both of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 2pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. TJ Howard officiating.  Burial will follow in the Big Muddy Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.

Everyone must wear a mask and social distancing is required.  No outside food or drink may be brought in.
